What a Restoration Shaman brings to a raid

• elixir
  Elixir of Healing Power

  Cheaper than a flask, and you lose it when you die.
• elixir
  Elixir of Draenic Wisdom or Elixir of Major Mageblood

  Cheaper than a flask, and you lose it when you die.
• oil
  Brilliant Wizard Oil or Brilliant Mana Oil

  Goes on your weapon before the pull and lasts an hour.
• food
  Golden Fish Sticks

  Well-fed. Half an hour, and it goes when you do — eat after a wipe.
• potion
  Super Mana Potion

  For mid-fight. Every potion shares one cooldown, so you get few of them.
• rune
  Dark Rune or Demonic Rune

  Mana back at the cost of health, without spending your potion.
• bandage
  Heavy Netherweave Bandage

  Heals you without spending a healer's mana.
• water
  Purified Draenic Water

  Your own, for when nobody is making any.
• drums
  Greater Drums of Battle (if Leatherworking)

  Leatherworking only, and it buffs the group around you.
• engineer
  Super Sapper Charge (if Engineer)

  Engineering only. Extra damage nobody else brings.

How to read it

This checklist is not something this site measured. It is transcribed from Wowhead's own Restoration Shaman Healing guide, and it is a recommendation: 10 lines, 13 items, covering elixir, oil, food, potion, rune, bandage, water, drums, engineer. Each line says what the thing IS before it names the item, because the question a Restoration Shaman arrives with is "why am I carrying this" rather than "what is it called".

Where a line offers several items joined by or, any one of them satisfies it; then means the second is the fallback when the first is out of reach. A flask lasts two hours and survives death, so it is the one buff a healer never re-applies mid-night; battle and guardian elixirs are cheaper and go when you do. Every potion in the game shares one cooldown, which is why the list names few of them.

Skipping one is not a mistake — the list is deliberately thorough, and a night with the flask and the food is most of the way there. Every name opens Wowhead. The raid gear checker on this site reads the same guide when it asks whether a raider turned up buffed.
